Beachy days

I miss the ocean! Today is a gorgeous day and unfortunately for the better part of it I am stuck inside with my granite slab of a lap-top weighing heavily on my lap (and my life!). I thought posting some pictures from our trip to Hawaii at the beginning of this month might improve my outlook... or at least give me something to dream about.

This first picture is the front porch of our hotel. We stayed in a rather sumptuous hotel on Waikiki called the Moana Surfrider. It had a very colonial feel to it -- large white columns, green palm frond decor etc. I love this picture, you can just imagine British ladies and gents taking a mid-afternoon tea.

A table under the banyan tree in the hotel courtyard offered lush views of the beach (and delicious pina coladas). Since we were there in early spring the occasional raincloud scared away the crowds and at sunset we were left with a relatively empty beach and some beautiful views.

Taken on the last day of our trip, this last shot is an early morning picture of Waikiki beach, before the tourists were out in mass.

Goodbye to Reds

Let's celebrate the changing seasons! These are in honor of my favorite red sweater, making its way to the bottom a Rubbermaid storage bin.

I took this picture in Carmel this past Christmas break. It's a wonderful little ocean town, and had great photo opportunities.

This next picture was from a while back, the summer of 2008. Matt and I were spending a couple of months in Barcelona and we took as many side trips as we could. This shot is from Tarragona, a bit south of Barcelona on the Mediterranean coast. Tarragona was a beautiful town, with incredibly well preserved roman ruins and provided some awesome shots. This was pre-DSLR.

I guess living in Davis makes one partial to bicycles. I love this picture from Barcelona. Every city should have a fleet of bright red bikes!
